How I wake my 3 y/o: Quietly open the door, gently rub her back and whisper her name until she wakes up. Snuggle her until she is ready to get out of bed.
How my 3 y/o wakes me up: Burst the door open and rush in as if the apocalypse is nigh. Climb onto the bed and continuously jump onto my abdomen is such a way as to definitely cause internal bleeding in at least 2 newly ruptured organs. Place her freezing hands of icy death onto my back in an attempt to push my directly over the edge. Proceed to use her icy feet of frostbite to push more. Blow raspberry on my arm. Rip my blankets off with the force of a typhoon. Yell like a hurricane directly in my ear “It’s time to wake up Daddy!!!!”
Hello! Thank you for coming to hear from me. I am new to blogging and this will take a lot of getting used to. First off my name is Drew Fisher. I am very busy and wear a of different hats in my life. Primarily I am a father, husband, and a Christian. My purpose here is to explain a little bit about how I see the world and better understand how others see it as well. I view the world from a Christian lens which is why I care so much about sharing my stories with the world.
I am very introverted and sometimes have difficulty expressing myself around other people, my goal here is to be transparent in a way that I could not normally be. I believe strongly the this world we live in is temporal and there are many more important things coming. My faith in God shapes how I view everything in this world. I have a wonderful creator who loves me enough to send His son to die just that I could know Him. That the creator of the universe would deem any human worthy of His son is just one of the unfathomable mysteries that exist but it does not shake my faith in the slightest, rather it enforces it. I should start by explaining that I am a sinner. I am a hypocrite, judgmental, lustful, angry, boastful, proud, lazy, and full of other sin just as bad as those on this list. However, I believe that my God has saved me from my sin and is working on convicting me of it day by day. Striving to make me more like Him. I will continue to fail everyday but that is what is truly means to be a follower of Christ. To know that we are full of sin and truly require the intervention of a savior. I will likely continue to post more about my individual walk with Christ as I continue to write in this blog. I encourage you to reach out to me if you are curious about my faith or if you have any questions.
More about what my life is like: I have two young girls ages 3 (Elena) and 1 1/2 (Amelia). They are wonderful and the time I get to spend with them is invaluable. I owe so much to my wonderful wife Gabrielle who is my support and other half in this crazy life. As you can imagine with having two toddlers running around we are always busy. My wife owns her own business selling Lularoe clothing (if you havn’t heard of these clothes check out her site, they are amazing!). As our children take up so much time in our life (although they are certainly worth it ) I will definitely be posting about them and all of their shenanigans.
I currently work full time as a RN in the intensive care unit. I have been working as a nurse for about five years now and I have learned so much in my time working in this profession. Some good and some bad of course. While I enjoy so much about my career it is sometimes extremely difficult to care for people at their worst, giving everything I can only to watch them suffer and frequently pass on. My faith in Christ is one of the other reasons I can continue going back to work every day. I will likely post about what it is truly like to work in this profession to help others gain that perspective.
In my leisure time I identify strongly as a nerd. I am very interested in all things super hero and fantasy related. The Lord of the Rings is my all time favorite book and movie series. While Marvel holds my allegiance for super heroes I do not turn a blind eye toward DC either. I have played World of Warcraft since the game launched but I actually just cancelled my sub simply because I do not have the time to play like I used to. I will still likely post about these and other nerdy interests in my time on this blog.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me a little bit. I hope I did not scare too many people off. If you did spend the time to read all of my ramblings please leave me a little note so I can learn a little bit about you as well! I look forward to creating most posts and I look forward to hearing from you as well!
